Afternoon tea at The Savoy is world-famous and has been served up since the hotel opened in 1889 (that means they’ve had over 100 years to get it right). First things first, you get a huge range of over 30 teas (even the likes of The Ritz can’t compete) to sip on. Then you can tuck into a selection of savouries like dainty cucumber sandwiches or Applewood Oak Smoked vegan cheese on granary bread. Then it’s onto the sweet treats. The pastries in particular are divine – you can tuck into the likes of zesty pink grapefruit tarts or more classic strawberry and cream sponge cakes.
Though it’s dreamy, it’s definitely on the pricier side. Prices start at £90 but can go up to £120 for a glass of their swankier Champagne.

For me, Act III stole the show: a dreamscape of desserts featuring dark chocolate-coated hearts, zesty pistachio and lemon cake, and jewel-like berry tarts.
The tea selection is also superb, boasting an above-average 19 choices. I opted for the ceremonial-grade matcha – which isn’t something you see that often on an afternoon tea menu. Creative, immersive, and just a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace – the vegan afternoon teat a Kona really has it all! Plus, they were recognised with an Award of Excellence at the Afternoon Tea Awards in both 2018 and 2019!
