Though Mayfair can be pricey, it doesn’t mean you can’t find a great afternoon there. Here are our top Mayfair afternoon teas if you’re on a budget!
1. Afternoon tea at Caffe Concerto, Oxford Street

Caffe Concerto is an Italian-style cafe with branches all over London. And they have two locations near Oxford Street, both just on the edge of Mayfair. The afternoon tea is a little different depending on your location, but it’s pretty tasty. You get classic finger sandwiches, warm scones and an array of mini cakes. Caffe Concerto are known for its Italian-style cakes with delicious cream and fresh fruit. It was, without a doubt, the highlight for us! For the price and location, the afternoon tea really ticks all the right boxes.

Huffkins has been around in the UK since the 1800s, and is known for wholesome, smile-inducing baked goods. They have a branch inside Oxford Street’s John Lewis where they do a very affordable afternoon tea for two! The menu is very classic, you’ll get sandwiches, homemade and freshly baked warm scones, plus an array of sweet treats. When we went, we had lovely fresh cream chocolate eclairs that were to die for. Overall, it’s a pretty standard but well-crafted afternoon tea. It feels like being in a countryside bakery, except you’re in Oxford Street John Lewis!

Now onto something a little more luxurious (and a lot more pricey). These are the best afternoon teas in Mayfair that have a little more opulence.
1. Afternoon tea at Claridge’s, Mayfair

Afternoon tea at Claridge’s is something else. The afternoon tea is served on fine bone china, and you sip tea out of mint green tea cups – it’s heaven. They claim their “ingredients are painstakingly sourced”, and it really shows in the menu. The pastries are especially impressive. They’re handmade each day by their team of pastry chefs – when we went, we had chocolate and caramel tarts as well as apricot, honey and vanilla mousse. The small details are really thought about here, even the selection of teas has been chosen to complement the food. There’s even Claridge’s own tea blend – it’s a little complex, but it’s nice to try!
User review: “Excellent service and food. The entire experience felt decadent due to the art deco room and the ambience created by the staff and the music/pianist.” Debbie, TripAdvisor
- Price: From £95 per person
- Location: Brook Street, near Grosvenor Square
2. Afternoon tea at The Ritz

There’s nothing more iconic than afternoon tea at The Ritz. Here’s something – The Ritz is the only hotel in the UK with a certified Tea Master, who travels around the world to source their selection of 20 teas. That’s the sort of level of luxury you get with the Ritz! You’ll tuck into finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with Cornish clotted cream and an amazing selection of pastries and cakes served on a silver trolley. The venue is really something else, with high ceilings, huge chandeliers and gold statues all around. Plus, there’s a resident pianist who plays throughout. It’s just a stunning experience!
User review: “Afternoon tea at The Ritz was a wonderful experience. The setting is very beautiful and elegant, with fine porcelain cutlery and teacups. The tea selection is very diverse—we tried the Royal English and Jasmine Dragon, the latter being a floral and smooth tea.” Yamille, TripAdvisor
- Price: From £81 per person
- Location: Just opposite Green Park Station
3. Afternoon tea at The May Fair Hotel

Located right in the heart of Mayfair, the five-star May Fair Hotel is a great go-to for afternoon tea. The menu changes seasonally – this summer they served up zesty lemon mousse with almond shortbread as well as vanilla Catalan crème brûlée. There’s also a choice of 16 teas, almost as many as The Ritz has on offer. The best part about the afternoon tea in Mayfair is that there’s a dedicated children’s menu too. The menu is genuinely very child-friendly and includes sweet treats like mini sugared doughnuts and chocolate dipping sauce, which we were actually quite envious of!
User review: “Went for afternoon tea with my wife. Location is perfect and could not fault the food. Staff were extremely attentive and the ambience was very pleasant. Lovely stroll afterwards in Green Park which is situated within a minute of the hotel. Perfect end to the day.” Day, TripAdvisor
- Price: From £49 per person
- Location: In the heart of Mayfair
4. Afternoon tea at The Chesterfield, Mayfair

You don’t get too many themed afternoon teas in London, but this one really takes the cake. The Chesterfield made a few headlines this year for their classic sweetshop-themed afternoon tea – they actually won ‘Best Themed Afternoon Tea’ at the 2025 Afternoon Tea Awards! This afternoon tea in Mayfair is all about the sweet treats. You can tuck into chocolate chip scones and homemade desserts like Coca-Cola slices, Drumstick macarons and cherry love heart cheesecake! Plus, there’s a pick and mix station that you can help yourself too at the end, which is truly the cherry on top. The venue isn’t super luxury or as opulent as The Ritz or Claridge’s, but the experience is very fun!
User review: “We had afternoon tea here and loved it. Jade was great. She was really helpful and kept all the lovely food and tea coming. She is a real credit to the hotel and made our afternoon just perfect.” Kev, TripAdvisor
- Price: From £75 per person
- Location: In the heart of Mayfair, not far from Berkley Square
5. Afternoon tea at The Wolseley

The Wolseley offers an afternoon tea that still lives up to Mayfair standards, but it’s a little more affordable. The restaurant has been around since 1921 and is pretty magical, with restored original features like huge domed ceilings and marble floors – it’s a very Art Deco vibe. The afternoon tea is lovely and classic. When we went, the afternoon tea came on a silver stand with a big silver teapot, and the sweet treats included chocolate eclairs, macarons and battenberg that were handmade that day in their kitchen. Big bonus points to the staff too – you get a very attentive and refined service that matches the likes of Claridge’s or the Rotz! Oh, and the menu also has options to cater for dairy-free, nut-free, gluten-free, veggie and vegan!
User review: “Whether you go for Brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner this place never disappoints. One of my favourite restaurants in London. Try the House Champagne! It’s fantastic!” Sarah, TripAdvisor
- Price: From £46.50 per person
- Location: Close to Green Park station
