Top spots for afternoon tea in Soho reviewed
There are over 330 restaurants in Soho and over 45 hotels, so there’s a lot of choice when it comes to afternoon tea. Below are our best of the bunch when it comes to afternoon tea in Soho.
1. Afternoon tea at Huffkins in John Lewis, Oxford Street

Huffkins is a cute little bakery that’s been in the UK since the 1800s. There are branches all over the UK, and there’s a lovely cafe and tea room nestled inside the John Lewis on Oxford Street. Huffkins is like stepping into a tea room from the countryside – the food is wholesome and the decor is homely (and pink). The afternoon tea ticks all the right boxes and includes warm scones with thick clotted cream, rounds of freshly-made sandwiches and a selection of homemade cakes from the bakery. It’s really lovely, and for the price point, it’s pretty decent for Zone 1! The only downside? It’s on the very edge of Soho – you won’t be in the heart of the neighbourhood, but you’ll be within walking distance.
- User review: “Lovely selection of cakes and the scones were served warm. Nice selection of well filled sandwiches and choice of hot drinks. We used a groupon voucher which made it extremely good value for money.” Maz, TripAdvisor
- Location: 4th Floor, 300 Oxford St, London W1C 1DX
2. Afternoon tea at Inamo, Soho

Inamo in Soho is a restaurant known for crafting creative Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Korean cuisine – and their afternoon tea is exactly the same. It’s by no means a traditional afternoon tea menu. You’ll tuck into tapas-style treats like bang bang cauliflower, onigiri, tempura and red dragon rolls. And on the sweet side, it’s cute mini tortes, macarons, and more – plus there’s the option to upgrade for a bottomless afternoon tea with unlimited Prosecco! It’s a little different, and it’s a lot of fun. They also have interactive tables – so you can play games and even watch the chefs at work while you’re waiting.
- User review: “My friend and I recently visited Inamo in Soho, and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious – fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented.” Pratham, TripAdvisor
- Location: 134-136 Wardour St, London W1F 8ZS
3. Afternoon tea at Caffe Concerto, Shaftesbury Avenue

Ah, Shaftesbury Avenue – it’s quintessential Soho at it’s best! Caffè Concerto has several locations across London (including one just around the corner in Covent Garden). The Soho branch is styled like a traditional Italian café, with a classic bar and elegant gold accents. The afternoon tea here is hearty, affordable, and unpretentious. You can xpect the usual favourites: warm scones, delicate finger sandwiches, and an assortment of mini cakes and fruit pastries. It’s a little more casual than our top two picks, but still a solid option – especially if you’re after something relaxed and right in the heart of the city.
- User review: “Lovely atmosphere with elegant decor and relaxing music. The coffee was rich and smooth, and the pastries were fresh and delicious.” Jalal, TripAdvisor
- Location: 50 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 6LW
4. Afternoon tea at Cutter & Squidge

Cutter & Squidge is one of the first places you’ll find if you search for afternoon tea in Soho online. It’s a family business run by two sisters, and the Soho store was the first to launch in 2015. Their ethos is all around homely cakes that only use all-natural ingredients. And that philosophy really comes across in the afternoon tea.
You’ll tuck into three classic sandwiches, warm scones with jam and cream, plus a slice of dream cake, a ‘biskie’ (a sort of biscuit/cookie/cake thing) and a macaron each. The sweet treats are by far the standout! The biskies are so chewy and melty, and the whole menu just feels like there’s been a lot of thought and love put into it.
It’s a great afternoon tea, and they also have really good Google reviews (last we checked, they had a 4.4/5 rating). Plus, they also have vegan and wheat-free options!
- User review: “Such kind, warm and welcoming staff, beautiful cafe with INCREDIBLE soft luscious cakes!” JK, TripAdvisor
- Price: £32.50 per person
- Location: 20 Brewer St, London W1F 0SJ
5. Afternoon tea at The Original Ivy, West End

The Original Ivy has roots that date back to 1917. It’s a legendary restaurant in the heart of Theatre Land, and they do a very affordable afternoon tea in Soho! For just £36.90, you can tuck into a selection of freshly made sandwiches, warm fruit scones and sweet treats like classic crème brûlée with berry compote and mini chocolate truffles with a liquid salted caramel centre. This one really surprised me. You’d expect the price to be much higher for the venue and overall quality of the afternoon tea. We had a great time here, though just bear in mind it’s a very busy venue and there are some reviews online that have mixed reviews for the service speed.
- User review: “Received and seated quickly. Incredibly attentive service and the food was absolutely superb before we crossed the road to see a show.” Simon C, TripAdvisor
- Price: £36.50
- Location: 1-5 West St, London WC2H 9NQ
6. Six The Musical afternoon tea at The Soho Hotel

The Soho Hotel is just behind Dean Street and has the Soho Theatre right opposite. So what better place to have a Six The Musical-themed afternoon tea? Created in collaboration with the West End show, the whole afternoon tea is inspired by the six wives of Henry VIII. You’ll get sandwiches, scones and mini sweet treats, including: Aragon’s Crown of Honour, Boleyn’s Strawberry Biscuit, Seymour’s Heart of Stone Blueberry Choux, Black Forest Cake of Cleves, Howard’s All You Want is Rice Pudding and Parr’s Tudor Rose and Lemon Curd Macaron. It’s a nice touch, though I’d say the only obvious reference to the wives is the Anne Boleyn’ biscuit is in a big B-shape. But still, it’s a lot of fun – heads will roll!
If you’re a fan of the musical or just love a themed experience, this one’s for you. Heads will roll!.
- User review: “Visited for Afternoon Tea but will be going back for more
- Service, food & ambiance were all great.” Pete, TripAdvisor
- Price: £45 per person
- Location: 4 Richmond Mews, London W1D 3DH
7. Afternoon tea at Liberty

Liberty is one of the best-known department stores in London, but few people know about their restaurant on the second floor. The Seventy Five restaurant opened this year and offers afternoon tea seven days a week. The menu is a little more luxurious and high-end – think wild mushroom vol-au-vents and smoked trout tarts for the savoury. The sweet treats are just as thoughtful and include a really delicious pistachio cream choux and an Italian meringue lemon tart. This one isn’t for kids and probably won’t appeal to fussy eaters, but it’s an amazing setting – this one is by far the best afternoon tea in Carnaby Street!
- User review: “Amazing! Great food & great service! Couldn’t recommend this place enough.” Casey R, TripAdvisor
- Price: £50 per person
- Location: Regent St., Carnaby, London W1B 5AH
More afternoon teas that are close to Soho
If we’re getting technical, Soho is just one square mile. And it’s largely considered that the boundaries are Oxford Street in the north, Charing Cross Road to the east, Shaftesbury Avenue in the south and Regent Street to the west. But there are some afternoon teas just past these points that you might also want to consider!
